New Home and Home Repair Workday Outline

8:00 A.M. Construction Committee members & group leaders arrive, meet to discuss/plan the day’s tasks & start setting up any necessary tools for the day. Registration Table set up with Sign-In book/name tags.

8:15 A.M. – Morning volunteer group arrives, sign in, and get name tags. Habitat representative will introduce the homeowner and any other homeowners in process and explain Habitat’s mission to the volunteer crew working for the day.

8:30 A.M. – Devotion optional, Break into work groups.

8:30 A.M. – Work begins.

11:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. – Lunch. A blessing is sometimes said before lunch. Volunteer group enjoys rest and fellowship.

12:00 P.M. – Afternoon volunteer group registration and workday tasks discussed.

3:00 P.M. – Volunteer crews clean up the worksite and pack up for the day.

Volunteers should take breaks as needed and are encouraged to drink water regularly to stay hydrated.

*In the case of inclement weather, group leaders will be contacted prior to the start of the workday if there is a cancellation. To confirm a workday is still scheduled in the event of inclement weather please contact HFHYC’s Construction Manager, Dane Bayag, at 803-493-2174. If a workday is cancelled the group may be offered a replacement workday on the current or future build if possible.
