Newest Habitat Homebuyer

homeowner crystalCrystal is one of Habitat’s newest homebuyers in process. Crystal is the hard-working mother of an 18 year old son who is legally deaf. Both are very excited to begin construction on their new home in spring of 2018. Crystal applied to the program some two years before she was approved to begin her journey as a homebuyer with Habitat.

Habitat for Humanity is Helping Lead Recovery Efforts from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma

 hurricaneThe devastation of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have left thousands of families homeless and broken. Habitat volunteers are onsite and have begun the process of cleanup and providing encouragement to the families who have lost so much.

Please contact your legislative representatives in all levels of government and remind them that affordable housing is a serious need here in our community.

While increased demand in the rental market is helping to drive recovery from the Great Recession the number of cost burden renters is at a historical high as 11.4 million people still struggle to afford a decent place to rent. Additionally, the ability of Americans to afford the purchase of a home is at an all-time low, resulting in home ownership levels falling to the lowest and a half century.
