Both are very excited to begin construction on their new home in spring of 2018. Crystal applied to the program some two years before she was approved to begin her journey as a homebuyer with Habitat.

Habitat for Humanity is Helping Lead Recovery Efforts from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma

 hurricaneThe devastation of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have left thousands of families homeless and broken. Habitat volunteers are onsite and have begun the process of cleanup and providing encouragement to the families who have lost so much.

Please contact your legislative representatives in all levels of government and remind them that affordable housing is a serious need here in our community.

While increased demand in the rental market is helping to drive recovery from the Great Recession the number of cost burden renters is at a historical high as 11.4 million people still struggle to afford a decent place to rent. Additionally, the ability of Americans to afford the purchase of a home is at an all-time low, resulting in home ownership levels falling to the lowest and a half century.

Habitat Partners with Crawford Road Neighborhood

volunteer2Habitat for Humanity launched its Neighborhood Revitalization efforts in 2011 and as a result has completed more than 75 home repair projects to date. In 2012, our affiliate launched our repair program in the Johnson City neighborhood of York and over the next 3 years completed a small number of repairs in York, Rock Hill and Clover. In 2014, we began our partnership with the Paradise community in Fort Mill as our neighborhood revitalization focus area where we concentrated a significant amount of our home repair work. Over the past 3 years, in addition to our major focus work in Fort Mill, our affiliate continued to complete home repairs in Clover and most recently has renewed our home repair work into Rock Hill.

Homeownership: The American Dream Project Supports Habitat

license plateThe “Homeownership: The American Dream” license plate is available for all private passenger carrying motor vehicles and light pick-ups having an empty weight of 9,000 lbs. or less and a gross vehicle weight of 11,000 lbs. or less.  A portion of the fees collected for this plate is administered by the SC Association of Realtors for distribution to Habitat for Humanity affiliates or another non-profit fund that supports the construction of new homes with low-income families. The fee for the plate is $100.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. To support this project, please follow this link,
