Habitat for Humanity launched its Neighborhood Revitalization efforts in 2011 and as a result has completed more than 75 home repair projects to date. In 2012, our affiliate launched our repair program in the Johnson City neighborhood of York and over the next 3 years completed a small number of repairs in York, Rock Hill and Clover. In 2014, we began our partnership with the Paradise community in Fort Mill as our neighborhood revitalization focus area where we concentrated a significant amount of our home repair work. Over the past 3 years, in addition to our major focus work in Fort Mill, our affiliate continued to complete home repairs in Clover and most recently has renewed our home repair work into Rock Hill.
The “Homeownership: The American Dream” license plate is available for all private passenger carrying motor vehicles and light pick-ups having an empty weight of 9,000 lbs. or less and a gross vehicle weight of 11,000 lbs. or less. A portion of the fees collected for this plate is administered by the SC Association of Realtors for distribution to Habitat for Humanity affiliates or another non-profit fund that supports the construction of new homes with low-income families. The fee for the plate is $100.00 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. Habitat is expanding its services to the heroes among us that have faithfully served and protected our country through their military service. Habitat recently partnered with Wells Fargo to complete repairs with three local veterans families. To-date Habitat has served eight veterans families. Please contact Stefanie at 803-985-9243 to learn more about our veterans’ initiative.
Two additional homes are being constructed thanks to the many community partners from the faith community, businesses, civic and service organizations that have joined hands with Habitat for Humanity. In addition, 40 home repair projects are being completed during this year as well. To support Habitat’s efforts to address the critical need for affordable housing in our community, click here.
Publix Super Markets Charities contributed $80,000 to build Habitat’s 65th affordable home here in York County, South Carolina. In addition to their generous financial contribution their associates also volunteered five days to help complete the build. Habitat is incredibly grateful to Publix and its associates for partnering with us to provide affordable housing here in our community.
