York County Habitat and The Home Depot Partners to Serve U.S. Military Veterans

York County, SC (February 6, 2017) – Habitat for Humanity of York County is partnering with Home Depot to serve U.S. military veterans in York County. The project is part of Habitat for Humanity’s Repair Corps program, an initiative funded by The Home Depot Foundation to help build, rehabilitate or repair the homes of U.S. military veterans and their families. The initial project will serve Milford, a U.S. military veteran who served during the Vietnam War. A kickoff event will be held Tuesday, February 7 at 10:00 AM at Milford’s home, located at 207 Juniper Street in the Paradise community of Fort Mill.

In partnership with the veteran, Habitat repairs will include installation of new water and waste lines, installing new bathroom and kitchen fixtures including toilet, bathtub, sinks, a hot water as well as a new roof.  

Milford states, “ Habitat is a huge blessing, I am so grateful for the partnership with Habitat and all the good folks associated with this organization.”

Family of Five Celebrates New Beginning In Their Habitat Home

Clover, South Carolina (February 11, 2017)- Habitat for Humanity of York County will celebrate the construction of its 64th home with a dedication ceremony this Saturday, February 11 at 10 AM at 111 Alexander Street, Clover. The new homeowners, the White family will have the opportunity to thank all those who worked with them to reach this goal.

“Through this experience, I have gained another family, the Habitat family”, states Lisa, mother of the family of five. “There were many obstacles, but thanks to the love and support of the Habitat family, I am able to provide a safe and secure home for my children.”

Wells Fargo & Faith Build Homes to be Dedicated

York County, SC (November 16, 2016) – Keys to the Wells Fargo and 2016 Faith Build homes will be turned over the Cagan and Thompson families at a dedication ceremony this Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 AM at 341/345 Walnut Street in Rock Hill.

Wells Fargo and the Faith community have been major partners with Habitat for Humanity of York County for several years. Wells Fargo has contributed $80,000 and up to 250 Wells Fargo associates provided more than 1500 hours of volunteer service to build this home. "We are proud to partner with Habitat in such a meaningful way", stated Josh Zozosky, Loan Administration Manager -AVP. The Faith Build was led by Elevation Church - Rock Hill which provided $20,000 of funding and more than 100 volunteers. An additional 10 faith groups rounded out the Faith Build effort.

York County Habitat joins global observance of World Habitat Day

York County, October 3, 2016 — On the first Monday in October, Habitat and its partners will advocate for better shelter around the world by taking part in the U.N.-designated annual World Habitat Day. Town of Fort Mill Mayor Guynn Savage will present a proclamation in recognition of the work of Habitat for Humanity in our community. The proclamation will be presented on Monday, October 3 at 1:30 PM at the Town Hall in the Council Chambers.

Habitat for Humanity and World Habitat Day is designed to bring attention to the need for adequate housing here in York County. Habitat is operating in 1400 communities across the U.S. and in 70 countries around the world.

York County Habitat Celebrates National Philanthropy Day

York County, November 15, 2016 — Habitat for Humanity of York County will hold a reception to celebrate and honor the generosity of individuals, businesses, faith communities, civic and service organizations on Tuesday, November 15 from 5PM - 7PM at St. Philip Neri, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill.

National Philanthropy Day is a celebration of philanthropy—giving, volunteering and charitable engagement—that highlights the accomplishments, large and small, that philanthropy—and all those involved in the philanthropic process—makes to our society and our world.

Philanthropy is “the love of humankind,” and National Philanthropy Day® (NPD)—November 15—is the day that thousands of people around the world come together to both (1) put that word into action and (2) recognize the change that word has brought to our communities.
