HFHYC’s Community Impact 2022-2025

This report summarizes the impact of Habitat for Humanity York County over the past three fiscal years. Through the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and partners, we have continued to strengthen our community, expand our outreach, and provide critical services to those in need.

During the last three fiscal years, 3,141 volunteers have contributed 40,698 hours to the Habitat mission.

Community engagement is a major component of our mission, and we are pleased to say we’ve engaged 6,082 people across 141 outreach events.

The programs and services we delivered are where we saw the most impact, as they include our home repairs and disaster response actions.

We saw 486 disaster response actions during the 2022-2025 fiscal years, which included Hurricane Helene and the 2024 hail storm in Rock Hill – the largest in 13 years. Due to these disasters, we have shifted to focus heavily on disaster response and community resilience in the future.

Another goal for us is teaching homeowners, families, and the overall community financial literacy, and we are excited to announce that we had 1,483 participants over the past three years.

When it comes to actual homes, HFHYC completed 133 home repairs and provided 13 homeownership opportunities.

Rafette, a homebuyer-in-process, speaks on what these services mean to her.

“For many years, I have struggled to maintain my health, and now, thanks to a new treatment plan only available in the last few years, I have a new lease on life. I feel better, have fewer and fewer attacks, and can support myself and my son – I’m ready for the joys of homeownership. Without Habitat for Humanity, my dream of home ownership would not be possible for my family, and I’m grateful for this opportunity.”

Habitat also contributed 14 community projects to the people of York County, along with five rehab/recycling projects and 12 new construction projects.

The work still continues, in FY 2025-2026, we plan to complete 4 new homes and repair 35 additional homes throughout the county.

In a partnership with the Young Lawyers Association, we will be hosting a Wills Clinic, which will be offering free legal support to help families secure clear property titles and safeguard generational assets.

We will also be hosting a Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project Rural Rally site in Clover. This is an initiative geared toward helping rural communities often overlooked by traditional support networks.

Finally, we are truly looking toward the future by developing the next generation of housing and community leaders with our Youth Advocacy Ambassadors.
